日本の震災被害地を支援するイベントがここボストンでも多数行われます。そのうちのいくつかをご紹介しますので、お近くの方はぜひお出かけください。

4月9日(土)20:00~

Bedford Japan Fair @ Bedford High School (9 Mudge WayMA 01730)
Origami workshop, face-painting of Japanese characters, taking photos in kimono (bring your own camera), Beyblade tournaments (Bring the Beyblades of your choice), tea ceremony demonstration, a Japanese crafts sale, a bake sale, a children’s clothing and baby gear tag sale, and more.
All proceeds will be donated to the Japanese disaster relief Fund.

There will be an interfaith prayer service and recent report from Japan. Donation will be collected. If you write a check, please make it payable to Japanese Association of Greater Boston.

If juggling, mime, magic tricks, and story telling weren’t enough for you, how about a fantastic morning for your kids and the opportunity to help raise funds for a very worthy cause (Japanese tsunami relief). All donations will be matched by Barefoot Books. Bring your friends!
Donations: Checks are the easiest way for donors to receive a tax letter, should be made payable to: U.S. Fund for UNICEF with "Japan Relief Efforts" in the memo line. 100% of each donation will go towards the relief programs.

Rebuild Japan Charity Event @ USS Constitution Inn in Charlestown (The Dave Powers Room 150 3rd Ave. Boston, MA 02129)
There will be lots of fun activities including a calligraphy station, a yukata photo session, water balloons, chair massage and music! We will also be selling items like handicrafts, Mother’s day gifts, baked treats, Japanese sweets, new/gently used children’s items, household items, books and many more!!
100% of proceeds will be donated to relief efforts in Japan.
Japanese Women’s Club of Boston, established in May 2010, is a group that offers various social opportunities and monthly lectures for its members. Japanese women who are independent, have a desire to improve themselves and respect others are qualified to join. The group is engaged in various relief efforts in the wake of the recent disaster in Japan as a part of Boston’s Japanese community.

たくさんあって全部には行けませんが、今週日曜日のBenefit Concert For The Victims Of The Earthquake And Tsunami In Japanには家族で行く予定。(うたこが静かに聞けるかどうかが問題ですが……)。そして5月の母の日のRebuild Japan Charity Eventは女性の会のメンバーとしてお手伝いもします。

知り合いのアメリカ人女性がボランティア団体と一緒に今、被災地に入っています。壊れた住宅等の撤去や、きれいにすれば使える住宅の清掃・消毒、道路のがれき除去などの作業をボランティアを組織して行うのだそうです。翻訳などで少々私もお手伝いしています。(All Hands Volunteersのウェブサイトはこちら→

また大きな余震があって被災地は本当に大変な状況のようです。今後も多くの物資、労働力、お金が必要になると思います。孫氏やジャッキー・チェン氏ほどのお金は出せませんが、できることをやっていきたいと思います。

それからこちらは震災支援とは全く関係ないのですが、ついでにお願い。

フランス人大学院生(20代の女性)がボストンでの研修のため部屋を探しています。6月7日~7月6日のうち1~2週間でも構わないので受け入れていただけるお宅を探しています。日本が好きで日本語を勉強しているので、日本人家庭での滞在を希望しています。家賃は少しなら払ってもらえそうです。

我が家でぜひやりたいのですが、ゲスト用の部屋がなく、ずっとリビングで寝ていただくわけにもいかないのでこうして広く(読者数不明ですが~)呼びかけることにしました。
